Discovered: Classic Arctic Cat Films

Classic Arctic Cat commercials and movies

While searching for images to use in an upcoming 50th Anniversary of Arctic Cat book project I'm working on, I obtained this box of reel-films from the 1970s.

They're classic short films and commercials, produced by their then-ad-agency Carmichael-Lynch. Back in those days, Arctic Cat/Carmichael annually created some amazing short films and commercials.

Some I've seen before.

Others...I'm not so sure. If I have seen them... I don't know them by name.

These films are now in the hands of Arctic Cat's current agency, Periscope, where hopefully they'll be digitized and incorporated into the flood of media that's available for the 50th Anniversary.

Looking forward to seeing this stuff!

Wow, would I love to spend an afternoon watching those! I sure hope that digitizing happens so they can be more easily enjoyed.

That could possibly be some great stuff! Footage that may have been deemed not useful way-back-when might be seen as a treasure trove today. Maybe there is some footage of the 800cc El Tigre that was toyed with in the 1970s that was sidelined because of oil pump clearance issues?

Man I could watch that sh** all day. Hell just for fun, I pop in AC promo dvds and watch them...can't beat it.

You know, this brings up a point....these short films, essentially promoting AC should be what they should produce for the web. Would be F'n awesome!

I hope your book turns out sweet John.

Yikes! That's too bad, We will never see those films again.
The policy has always been distancing themselves from the bankrupt company. They like to promote "old Arctic" in spirit but not with anything in material form that era. I like to think it's going into some sort of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" type storage facility but I remember how it was when i was there. It just got thrown in the dumpster out back. :-(
