Inside Look: 2022 Riot X Mountain Crossover

Those who want to venture into legal steeper and deeper backcountry riding should take particular interest in the Riot X – All-New ADAPT CVT System and ATAC adjust on-the-fly added for 2022.

Riot X Adjustable 39.5-41.5-inch ski stance

Setting itself apart from the Riot, the X employs the lightweight front Arctic Mountain Suspension (AMS) featuring mountain spindles and geometry for easy carving in snow and on hardpack. Its adjustable 39.5-in. to 41.5-in. ski stance and vertical steering post deliver excellent side hilling capability and confident handling in a wide range of crossover conditions, especially when gripping snow with the 2.6-in. lug height Powerclaw track.

ALPHA-ONE single-beam rear suspension

The C-TEC2 794cc twin-cylinder engine, delivers clean responsive performance with leading fuel economy thanks to DSI, Electronic APV Exhaust Valves, Exhaust Pipe Temperature Sensor, electric oil injection, ceramic exhaust and convenience of push-button engine reverse and electric start.

ADAPT Clutches

Smile-Inducing power, smoothness and reliability is backed by the new Arctic Cat ADAPT CVT System. New Drive and Driven clutches are lighter-weight and employ a compact design with advanced idler system. ADAPT maintains constant belt tension throughout the RPM range resulting in minimized wear and maximum throttle response throughout your drive belts longer life without fade.

Riot X hits the height of mountain crossover agility thanks to the ALPHA-ONE single-beam rear suspension. The lightweight and rigid single-beam rear suspension is constructed from extruded aluminum and magnesium and runs in the middle of a specially designed lightweight Power Claw track.

The Riot X 8000 has choice of three different suspension packages – the first capitalizes on Arctic Cat’s 1.5 IFP coilover shocks on both the AMS front and ALPHA-ONE rear suspensions.

Seasoned riders will appreciate the moderately aggressive suspension calibration with manually activated FOX 1.5 ZERO QS3 coilover ski shocks and equally calibrated FOX 1.5 ZERO QS3 Coilover front- and FOX 1.5 ZERO QSL coilover rear-track shocks. The L stands for Lockout – A manually switchable setting locking your rear shock for optimum deep snow flotation.

ATAC

And those looking for the ultimate level of premium rider performance can opt for the ATAC adjust on-the-fly suspension system. The innovative ATAC utilizes a thumb-operated button on the left handlebar controls to operate the FOX 1.5 ZERO iQS coilover ski and Arctic Cat IFP 1.5 front- and FOX 1.5 ZERO iQSL coilover rear-track shocks, allowing the rider to instantly switch between three factory compression settings (Soft, Medium and Firm), with two additional settings (Driver 1 and Driver 2) allowing you to customize your own calibrations between front and rear shocks.

  1. I thinking a 1.6” or 1.75” ! With the release of the M 146”. Why do they still have this model ? With a 2.6”. I’m not keen of my 2021 Riot . ( Like my HC better) I would of bought the X if it had a lower lug on it ! Had to run with the scratcher down with the 1.6” all season. Do to the crappie snow conditions this year . In the Midwest .
