Press Release-

HISTORIC WINS FOR TEAM ARCTIC IN IRON DOG, CROSS-COUNTRY AND SNOCROSS

Combined 41 Class Wins and 109 Podium Finishes Prove the Power of Team Green

Team Arctic terrain racers set the record straight during a two week period of national level cross-country and snocross competition by scoring a combined 41 class wins and 109 podium finishes, including victory in the rugged Alaskan Iron Dog cross-country race.

Cory Davis and Ryan Simons notched their first win in the 33rd Iron Dog – dubbed “The worlds longest and toughest cross-country race” – by combining smart race tactics with great handling and durability of their Arctic Cat ZR 6000R XC snowmobiles with the C-TEC2 engine. The win marked the eighth Iron Dog victory for the Davis family (Scott Davis is a 7-time winner), plus Simons is the first person to have won the Iron Dog and I-500. Team Arctic racers Micah Huss and Ryan Sottosanti also delivered a great performance to finish third in this year’s event.

The results were equally impressive for Team Green in USXC cross-country competition, where the crew made heavy haul of 32 class wins and 74 podium finishes during two weekends of domination. Team Arctic swept the Pro classes, with Zach Herfindahl taking two wins, Wes Selby winning one and Chad Lian scoring his career-first Pro Stock victory. Lian’s win on a ZR 7000 RR marks the first-ever Pro Stock win by a racer on a 4-stroke engine snowmobile.

Additional Team Arctic race winners in USXC included Ryan Trout, Dustin Schwandt, Marcus Herfindahl, David Brown, Jon Arneson, Thomas Junglen, Todd Severson, Gary Tintes, Scott Ilstrup, Marshall Busse, Sara Larson, Ean Voight, Blair Herfindahl, Garet Grzadzielewski, Lucas Burnside, Nicholas Nyquis and Brian Brown.

Team Green snocross racers delivered eight wins and 32 podium finishes in consecutive weekends of ISOC national competition. Tucker Hibbert was victorious in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., in a season in which he’s won nearly half of the Pro finals. The other class winners aboard Team Green included Jordan Brinkman, Eric Downs, Drew Freeland, Kaeden Rarick, CJ Petosky and Taven Woodie.

“That was a remarkable period of success for Team Arctic racers and teams,” said Mike Kloety, Team Arctic Race Manager. “To win the Iron Dog with Cory and Ryan is absolutely huge, and a testement to their skills and strategy. The same goes for sweeping the Pro classes at every USXC event of the season, and for the team’s ability to win in every class and category.”

The next ISOC National snocross is March 17-19 in Lake Geneva, Wis. The next RMSHA hillclimb is March 11-12 in Montana

  1. Props to Chad Lian….an awesome old school pro who has been waiting for this for a long time. First time win for a four stroke…ever in the pro ranks. Go AC!

  2. Dustin Schwandt is an outstanding ice racer, and needs to be on one of the Cat teams at the SOO next year. Beyond that he is a hell of a nice guy…just sayin…

  3. Congrats to Team Arctic for an incredible race season across the snow belt. With all the podiums in the junior classes I’d say the future looks awfully bright too!

  4. I was there on the lake watching the furthest West turn at the last USXC Race. It was like a water cross on the Pro Final. Was great racing though. I am a member of the club that hosted the event. Naytahwaush Nightriders. Was a great weekend over all. Props to all the racers and to Cat for such a great showing.
