Racers accustomed to white/clear plastic fuel tanks value the ease of determining fuel level. This is especially true for cross-country, where fuel stops can play a meaningful role in the race’s outcome. So when racers received their 2010 Sno Pro race sleds, there was some serious grumbling about the black-coated tanks.
SledRacer.com got the skinny on the situation, and posted about it HERE.

Is there a "inner liner" on any of the cats?

No inner liner, just the black and clear joined together. I think the Ski-Doos were a totally clear tank with a black "cover" laid over and that's how the Ski-Doo guys were able to scrape some away to reveal the clear. More here:

Do some states have laws against having trail sleds with clear tanks???
I sold a 2002 Arctic Cat snopro with a clear tank to a guy from Wisconsin and he said it couldn't be used for trail riding until he had a tank cover put on, or the tank replaced. He told me that is the law in Wisconsin...I'm from Upper Michigan and we don't have any law like that!
