Stock Wildcat XX vs. Stock RZR 1000

(4/6/2018)

Curious how a stock Wildcat XX compared to a stock RZR 1000, the guys at Speedwerx lined 'em up and let 'em rip.

While it's nice to see the Wildcat XX come out the winner here, on beautiful blacktop, the real place to run them side-by-side is over gnarly stuff. There the difference is even bigger.

Click on the Speedwerx ad at the side of my page for info on how to make a Wildcat XX go even FASTER!

While the stunning Wildcat XX might have grabbed the biggest headlines at the recent Arctic Cat-Textron Off Road dealer meeting in Las Vegas, it was another side-by-side that made the quietest (and perhaps most profound) impact.

I'm referring to the soon-to-be-released 2018 Prower Pro, a newly conceived utility side-by-side that emphasizes smoothness, quietness, quality and customizability.

Havoc X: The All-New All-Rounder SxS

(10/31/2017)

2018 Havoc X from Textron Off Road. American muscle side-by-side.

Today Textron Off Road took the final wraps off its new 2018 Havoc X, an American-designed-and-built side-by-side that aims to handle hardcore riding and heavy-duty chores. Yes, that means it's aimed directly at the General -- 100 hp; class-leading suspension with King shocks; class-leading ground clearance; extended cab.

From what I see, it's a bullseye hit.

Gone Electric: 2018 Prowler EV & EV iS Side-by-Sides

(10/21/2017)

2018 Prowler EV from Textron Off Road.

I'm of the opinion that the human race is well on its way to FAR, FAR more widespread use of electric-powered vehicles. I also believe the approaching sea-change should NOT induce fear or loathing.

On the contrary, every experience I've had with EV has been awesome. The future is awesome!

Case in point: the new 2018 Prowler EV and EV iS side-by-sides from Textron Off Road.

The machine will feature a rugged steel cargo bed that can reliably handle up to 1,000 lb (450 kg) of material and tools, plus a 2,000-lb (900-kg) towing capacity. The UTVs also provide ample headroom and legroom for tall riders.

First Impressions: Driving a Stampede

(7/10/2017)

First ride on a Textron Stampede. Photo by ArcticInsider.com

If first impressions are truly meaningful, then the hour-or-so test drive I had on a couple Stampede side-by-side models (as well as a Recoil iS electric vehicle) are a good omen for the future of Arctic Cat dealers and riders.

The ride took place this spring at Country Cat, who has been a Stampede dealer for the last year.

Far from being a definitive test, this was more of an introductory session with a couple machines. Not comprehensive, rather, an introduction of sorts.

Priced to Move: Arctic Cat No-Brainer Sales for Dirt

(4/6/2017)

Arctic Cat No Brainer Sales event

I don't typically write about sale prices, but Arctic Cat's just-announced "No Brainer" sales event offers pretty unbelievable pricing on new non-current ATV and side-by-sides. Truly, price just became a non-issue for anyone who had seriously been in the market for wheelers.

For example:

2015 HDX 700 XT EPS is now $9,999 U.S., which is -$4,000 off MSRP.

2015 Wildcat Trail is now just $7,499 U.S., a $4,400 savings.

2015 Wildcat X price has been chopped by $5,800 bucks to $12,999 U.S.

And the 2015 XR 550 Limited EPS ATV is now a mere $5,699 U.S., $4,700 lower than MSRP.

Arctic Cat just released the 2017 VLX 700 ATV, a full-sized machine with 700-class power with an MSRP of just $5,999 U.S. ($7,199 Canada)!

As Cat says, that's 400-class pricing for a 700cc machine.

A no-frills, rugged ATV with a 700 EFI engine, selectable 2WD/4WD and a price that's SO EASY to justify...I think this machine is exactly what a whole bunch of people want.
