Brian Nelson and I put 55 miles on two of his three '79 Arctic Cat el tigre Cross-Country sleds, pounding the ditches near his shop in Spicer, Minn.

Two things: Brian still FLIES, and so does the '79 CC tiger. I wish I had video of 15-minute portion of this ride, during which we were seriously raging at race-pace. Alas... the best moments ALWAYS happen when the camera can't be rolling.

There is NOTHING like the sight and sound of Pro Open sleds ripping up the starting line at the snocross season opener in Duluth, Minn.

Here are a few short segments of practice, and the real thing, including one of Dan Ebert, a couple of Johan Lidman, a couple heat races and the Pro Open final.

My last trip to the Spirit Mountain snocross in Duluth, Minn., was for promotional purposes. This year I might actually watch some races.

Tucker Hibbert gets ready for the 2011 snocross season in several ways, including giving his dad, Kirk, grief about the snow that fell during the fall test/practice trip in the Rockies.

My son Calvin knows how to rip up the yard on the Arctic Cat Sno Pro 500.

He also knows EXACTLY how to answer really tough questions.

Last week I spent a day shooting photos of Tom Rowland's amazing collection of Arctic Cats at his dealership, Thomas Sno Sports.

I also managed to capture this video of Tom practicing for the upcoming AMA Supercross season on his ultra-rare 1966 Arctic Cat Cub minibike/all-terrain cycle.

This is a conversation that I overheard recently. Word.

A few laps around the yard on the '81 Arctic Cat el tigre 5000 was enough for my son, Cal, to give some good feedback about the additional tuning that needs to be done.

The Dark Lord definitely knows how to clean.
