Snowmobile freestyle has come a long way since its "invention" in 1997-1998.
This sweet video from 1999 shows some classic names of the era: Chris Vincent, Trevor John, Noel Kohanski and some punk kid named Tucker Hibbert.
The heel-clickers, can-cans and supermans are equally classic.
I haven’t yet watched the new DVD detailing the highlights of the 2013 USXC cross-country snowmobile race season, but if the footage in this 90-second trailer is any indication, it will be worth the $20 price tag.
The 45-min. DVD combines great race footage (like the snippet of Team Arctic’s Ryan Simons launching at the I-500 shown on the trailer); racer interviews (including Simons and Team Arctic great Jolene Bute); a tour inside a top race trailer; and many other elements of the USXC racing experience.

Sometimes the best way to enjoy a trail ride is by exploring the margins.
And something I learned from racing was how to explore the margins.

Here's a good video of the Arctic Cat Wildcat mod (built by Mark Beyer from STM Powersports) and tuned/driven by Glenn Hall.
I like the footage on the chassis dyno as much as the sand blasting... this machine screams power!
What is a 4.061-second, 87.98-mph blast in just 300 feet of sand?
For Team Arctic racer Glenn Hall and this STM-modified Arctic Cat Wildcat UTV, it's just the beginning.

Remember when radio and television ruled the airwaves? Me either. But they did.
And WHEN they did, Arctic Cat produced radio spots like this one from the 1972 season. (Just click the PLAY arrow above.)
*Special thanks to Cat collector Tom Ische for sending me this and other spots that I will post on a weekly basis.

For the past few years I've enjoyed entertaining email exchanges with a couple Canadians who go by The Hammer and LumberHead.
Then the thought occurred to me that others might enjoy their north-of-the-border perspective on snowmobiles, ATVs and life.
So here's their introduction, with updates to come whenever they feel like it.
Enjoy.
