2024 ARCTIC CAT SNOWMOBILES RELEASED – FULL MODEL OVERVIEW

Below is a first look at the 2024 Arctic Cat snowmobiles line-up. In the days following, Ill share more detailed tech/spec information on each individual segment! So, keep coming back! Arctic Cat’s Spring Ordering Period starts March 7th. -Kale

ALL-NEW CATALYST PLATFORM DETAILS

CATALYST models within the High Performance Trail, Crossover and Mountain categories share four general commonalities:

1. CATALYST PLATFORM – CATALYST is the lightest, strongest and most rigid platform design in the snowmobile industry. Performance engineered with a low center of gravity, CATALYST exudes the industry’s most rider-influenced platform. Built around the laydown architecture of the C-TEC2 engine, the one-piece front structure is built from ultra-high-strength steel which is lighter than the competition and exceedingly stronger. With no joints or fasteners, the one-piece chassis sheds unnecessary weight and possesses rigidity that won’t loosen over time. Paired to a one-piece aluminum tunnel, the design is strong, light and easily serviceable.

2. C-TEC2 LAYDOWN ENGINE ADVANTAGE– Arctic Cat retains an industry-advantage with their C-TEC2 laydown engine design. The potent performing 599cc C-TEC2 powerplant has Electronic Fuel Injection and leads the 125 HP class. Robust, yet lightweight, the laydown engine keeps the center of gravity low where it belongs and has a strong power-to-weight advantage in the CATALYST platform.

3. ADAPT DRIVE AND DRIVEN CLUTCHES – The ADAPT CVT system has proven to be one of Arctic Cat’s most efficient, high-performing drive and driven clutches. The compact design is lightweight with an advanced idler system which maintains constant belt deflection throughout the RPM range. The result is minimized wear and maximum throttle response throughout the life of the belt.

4. ARCTIC CAT BELT DRIVE – The all-new Belt Drive system is a departure from the traditional Arctic Cat chaincase, but the benefits outweigh any of the unknowns. Eliminating the rotating mass and weight of a traditional chaincase allows the 600cc C-TEC2 engine to spool up quicker providing better throttle response, instantaneous acceleration and frees up horsepower to transfer it to the snow more efficiently. The belt drive also eliminates the hassle of checking and replacing oil levels within a chaincase. Once your belt tension is set, the new belt drive is nearly service-free and hands-off. (Gearing varies between models)

THE ZR 600 AT A GLANCE – All-new CATALYST platform is the industry’s lightest and toughest, C-TEC2, 599cc 2-stroke 125-class horsepower, Standard laydown steering post with 3.5-inch handlebar riser, Arctic Wishbone Suspension (AWS) with 42-inch adjustable ski stance, Trail-6 Skis with long 4-bolt dual-runner carbide (Except R-XC, single-runner), SLIDE-ACTION rear suspension in 129- and 137-inch lengths, (129 is all-new design eliminating Torque Sensing Link, has long front race arm and is uncoupled), Ripsaw II track with 1.25-inch lug, Cobra track with 1.35-inch lug (RXC 137), Tether switch, 12V Accessory and helmet visor plug-ins, Dash located goggle holder/storage and under hood belt storage, All-New ATACH accessory mounting

  1. Green should be an option for every sled. These are Arctic cat, not Polaris. Come on!!!! Demand they add a green option for all models!!!!!!!!!!!

    • The ride of the 129 is playful, yet can carve a corner flat. In combo with the ergonomics and balance of the CATALYST platform, the 129 responds to rider input and where you position your weight. Lean forward to put pressure on skis, lean back to loft them. Its quite fun.

  2. Absolutely pumped they brought back the 129 and that the track is a ripsaw II instead of regular ripsaw. We’re off trail just enough that the regular ripsaw is a bad option for us.

        • It seems like a weird color combo with the black and green. They should have accented that sled with blue decals instead of the green. So you would’ve had a Black and Green choice or a Black and Blue Choice. I don’t think Blue goes well with Black and green. Maybe it will look better in person. I’m ordering the all black with Green accents in 129″ ATAC.

        • It seems Cat put much more effort in the long tracks and short changed the 129 class. I love the colors but I am looking for 800 or 850 129 track. I am northern WI rider

I am exited about the changes but will have buy doo or Polaris this year.

Based what is happening at cat maybe the 129 class will expand in the future

  3. I’m looking to get an M and was hoping they’d have something with green. My gear is green! So a little disappointed about that but the black one wouldn’t be terrible to convert the blue bits. I’m guessing we won’t hear pricing until March 7?
Pretty cool they brought back the 7000 and the Pantera model. The 129 zr skid sounds interesting also. Overall this is so great for AC. Thanks for the insider info

  4. Disappointed its IFP or ATAC. The price difference is not justified, IMO. A lot cheaper to just have the IFP revalved. Would have liked to seen QS3.

    • I don’t know what the answer is for choosing shocks…its one I struggle with. Most times I get on a unit with QS3s, and I set em and forget em. So then I start thinking, why wouldn’t you just get IFP shocks and valve them the way you want? Then I get on an ATAC-equipped model with adjustable settings at my fingertips that I really like using, and I get confused all over again!

      • Want a novice rider sled. Not one that’s gonna lift skis on them unexpectedly. I just do not get there decision to do that. Missing the mark on the 129 buyer. If they are going to make an uncoupled make it a special one off model marketed as a aggressive ditch banger ect

          • I rode the 137 ZR then 129 at Eagle River. The snow was loose with iced out corners. Very impressed with the 600 power. I think everyone in the group tested the power first. Mad dash to catch the sled in front of you. The 137 tracked very well/predictable in the mush. I slid my but a little forward in the tight turns. The first corner with the 129 definitely was looser. I moved back in the seat ever so slightly and I did not notice looseness after that. The skis did not lift coming out corners in the normal riding position. Close to the end of the ride, I did scoot back in the seat and whack the throttle. It lifted the skis and gave me thoughts of riding my old 2003 Firecat. My wife will also be driving my next sled so I would probably opt for the 137 due to the predictability. Less fun but safer for her.

          • That’s great to hear KLR. I’m definitely looking for a more spirited ride like the Doos and Poos. The procross imo is so boring compared to the other chassis offerings. No one wants excessive ski lift, but to be able to loft them by shifting your weight and yanking on the bars is huge. Thanks for the review.

        • I got to ride the Catalyst 129″ for 2 days and I couldn’t have told you it was uncoupled if I hadn’t known. I remove the coupling blocks from my Procross because I think it’s more fun to ride that way since I get off trail some.

    • I can’t find anything on the cat site that shows the difference between the 129 and 137 skids. That’s pretty cool that they have the option where one is coupled and the other isn’t. On the procross the 129 transferred fine and the 137 didn’t transfer well at all. I’d almost expect they’d do it the opposite.

I dont’ think I could pull the $ together but if I could I’d order a 129 600 this year.

  5. Like how they sneak in a 700 surcharge? Just add 700 to each msrp that’s the real msrp. Plus setup and delivery, tax, title, registration man

  6. Nice line up. But Catman is right the Catalyst should have a good looking green and black option.
    Really a 7000,,, nice.
But now for the bad news. I just called my dealer about what I’m interested in. His allegation is 1, for a model every year he sells 5 to 6 of. He told me the best bet is go online first thing that morning. And get my order in with CAT, put deposit down with a card, and maybe I’ll get what I want.
But he is allegated a few Catalyst.
I did do the ride in Eagle River. Nope no Catalyst for me. Just relax, and read on.
The Riot in orange. Candy apple, look in the sunshine really sharp. The blue ok, Black just ok looks unfinished.
I looked them over because you have hours before your time slot, a ton of riders showed up,, go early. The hood comes off easily not a big deal really nothing new. Under the hood nicely fit in. And now the good news room for a bigger mill. Saw some changes. I do question the belt drive, and the air intake size. Coolant bottle has a screw cap. Oil tank changed. Heat exchanger runners down top of tunnel wider. The drive shaft bearing that’s a slip fit, Not if it will be a problem but when. Still waiting. That was a hot topic in the line, and before I know it the line was a huge circle of guys, and how there’s ground up shafts. And then it went on to other brands and issues, I dont care. Research drive shaft bearing and fix this known problem and move on. Just like under hard or low snow conditions CATS just run hotter we all know this and take steps to address this. So it was really nice to see more capacity to the new coolant loop on this new platform. I asked about GPS new display. They told me I can order a accessory add on thing. I said you don’t understand I want it as part of the sled. They know this and some day it will happen just not now. The good news about this conversation is the new rack system. You will be able to order a kit. Temp plate with the tunnel things, and you can have that slick set up. They bags, gas cans will have a lock built into the bracket, so its lock to the sled. This was what I was told.
Now on to my test ride. 8 sleds 1 CAT guy in front 1 in rear. Middle age guys that can ride. Spirted riders up front. OK what ever. We take off I cant believe it, it’s like a pack of wild dogs or CATs. Everyone has it’s a rental car mind set, no bump, rise in the trail unroosted. The new 600 smooth sh*& ton of power. Really no bad habits from what I could tell. The Riot I’m on pushes like crazy and just terrible. It’s not my ride or even set up so I take it easy and let the pack get away. Now this ride is on the trails I take care of. So I just relax know what’s come around corner. The road,, let her have IT, no studs and not my carbides. I’m fling low, drift off the side at speed into a mogul run. Sitting down she handled it good no az slappers. Stand up and pour the coals to her. This little peanuts still pulling hard. Look down the sun is shining and with the crazy angle back of the gauges cant see anything. I cool it and slowly go through a corner, to the group waiting and doing the mid point sled switch. I’m late. Jump off, go to leader take his ZR and tell him take that Riot. I go right to the back. And tell myself to ride like I normally would. I cruise threw the woods at my normal pace. Its smooth quit, handles good steering is good at slow speeds. I have one slower rider in front of me, that’s fine I’m just going down the trail. Yeap it’s nice. Getting near the end. Time to start spinning and sliding on the rental. Moguls, I head off into the mine field sideways. A few hits the rearend seemed unpredictable, but not out of control. Is it a nice sled, YES. Does it look like they have it figured out under the hood, YES. The one thing I noticed was the foot wells, didn’t care for the insides hitting my boots. I’m I ordering one, NO. But probably next year for the wife. It’s just not as good for my style riding as a Thundercat.
One of the great things was talking to the other Cat riders, the factory people, and the test crew. All top notch and cool.

    • The belt drive will be just fine. They have been using Belt drive on Motorcycles forever and no issues. To me the intake has been greatly improved over the Pro Cross in my mind. I have the Garmin tread and would never want that built into the dash as that means more money. I use my Tread on my sled and wheeler and can even use it in my pickup. Win win! I used to think my sled heated up more than others but on my last 3 rides I went without using my scratchers and never seen temps above 113. Only time I need to use my scratchers is on pure ice, but everyone seems to.

  7. Cat definitely decided to lead this season. Lead in high prices anyway. Catalyst is at a minimum $1K more than the competition. The ZR9000 is $2.5K more.

  8. Absolutely right! Arctic cats are GREEN why not have a mostly greeen option in the models. The RXC looks nice but the regular ZR’s are black or blue with green bumper? Not wanting to be a complainer just was blown away by that.

  9. Kale,

I’m trying to understand why Cat wouldn’t market the crap out of the new 129” uncoupled rear suspension? By reading their official site, it says the 129 and 137 are both coupled. At least come up with a new name or some designation that it is different. The long front arm is a step in the right direction, but again, market it! Other manufacturers would have claimed the new rear suspension is a “whole new chassis”! ?

      • Hey, that’s MY line (Above my pay grade)! 🙂

Appreciate all you do, and I’m just hoping the powers that be at Cat are reading this post.

    • There marketing team has been terrible the last few years but cat is also usually quite about exact detail in past. would have wished i new my riot was running a 153 tunnel with full heat exchangers. suffered off trail vs my high country and extra long cooler was just added weight and runs super cold. It was allot different than the X. Also wish for QRS shocks but i assume there trying to stream line models. I change my shocks allot going on/off trail. not hard to turn a knob 3 times.

  10. Cat may have this right after 60 years. But, come on man! Grey, blue and white?? Cheap graphics to me. I can understand the red, because of old school scropins.

  11. Really liking the idea of the 129 uncoupled skid and look forward to some more detail on that. I’m holding out for next year’s big bore and to let the new chassis get a year under its belt. I like what I see so far…hoping the big bore is worth the wait!

    • The accessory running boards are aluminum instead of composite. They are also colored.
Snowest did a podcast about their ride and they said the sleds with the hardcore accessory boards collected snow, and the stock black composite board didn’t hold snow.

  12. Are the zr 8000 getting more horsepower? Would like to see them in the same range with ski-doo and polaris really like what i see with the catalyst great job Arctic cat

  13. Seems like the biggest advantages to the new chassis , is centralized mass, light weight, and more efficient with belt drive? We have seen reports about the different feel, why would Cat not share some hard specs on what weight is compare to the 2023 models and power to the ground with the belt drive? They must have that information? Also if I see the spec right , the 2024 RXC lost the Kashima coated shocks and that is the only 2024 model with the longer front skid arm?

    • Im glad they didn’t share weight…its preproduction. I think its kind of hard to put a measurement of power to the ground that’s understandable. No Kashima coated shocks on 2024 RXC. They’ll be Black Anodized. The RXC 137 skid and the new 129 share the long front arm from the race sleds. Ill share more info on skid frames tomorrow.

  14. Kale, thanks for the writeup and your insight. I’m torn between ordering a new T-Cat or waiting for a (maybe) 2025 T-Cat 998 in the new chassis. However, I fear Cat may dump the 998T for new engine to fit the Catalyst and I will be mad at myself. Any thoughts?

    • Pretty hard to pass on the 24 Tcat. I think it’s one of sexiest color/graphic schemes yet. The 9000RR would also be on my list.

why make electric start standard and not (tick a box) ?

why not offer an ‘ice’ style track for people that don’t want studs… when BRP & Polaris do and they all use the same track manufacturer?

front end is a smidge narrower and the new model gives up 0.8″ of front travel… any idea why?

  18. I’m really excited about the 600 RXC, but disappointed it only comes with a 137″ skid. Over the last 10 years I’ve had the opportunity to ride different sleds with 121, 129, and 137 skids and while some conditions favor the 137″, most of my riding favors the 129″. If I were to go with the standard ZR which has the 129″ skid I then have to take a down grade in shocks. Not sure what else I would give up over the RXC? Also, I love the colors of the RXC, the ZR not so much.

    • 2.52P fan here… 128″ &/or 136″ Cobra would be ideal imo. XCR comes 128 or 136 with a couple track options. agree, a shorty R-XC is more appealing to me, mainly due to the shock package. to get a ZR 129 and put on high qaulity Elka’s or Custom Axis $4-5K

      math…

    • Man – But have you ridden the 2024 RXC in 137? Read my new story and watch the video on RXC skid with Ben Langaas. He talks about why he, Herfindahl and Brown prefer the 137 in CATALYST platform.

  19. My dealer contacted me and asked what I was looking to order for 2024, as the were only allocated 22 machines, and only certain models. I told them I wanted a 137 ZR 600 ATAC. They told me they were not allocated any 2024 ZR 600’s, other than 3 R XC’s. Put my name on a R XC. If you are looking at getting a 2024, probably need to contact your dealer sooner than later.

  20. Will the final drive belt be covered under warranty if it were to break? Little nervous on the drive belt durability beating over frozen bumps.

    • You could ask the question of your dealer, but Im pretty certain the Belt Drive belt is considered a wear item like your clutch belt. It most likely isn’t covered under warranty.

  21. Kale,
Do you have any info or a picture of how and where the Garmin Tread will mount to the Catalyst Chassis? Thinking about ordering one but have seen no pictures of mounting location.

    • Kale told me on another post that the mount will replace the door to the goggle holder on the Catalyst and will be very visible.

  22. As has been said already, I wish they could dress up the base black ZR a little with some green accents. I know they can do it as the THUNDERCAT, and even the PANTERA look awesome. Guess a guy has to buy some pin stripes and beer and do it himself.

  23. I should order online, and whatever CAT has as the price is it. Not happening. CAT has been treating the dealers for shet for years, this is crossing the line to the consumer. BAD idea!

  24. Glad to see the Pentera back. Yeah in past two years complaining and wanted to see cat names back. In green? Love those 70s and 80s Pentera colors. Anyway. I agree that there should be green color as option. Or standard color and make the rest of colors as options. The other way around. One thing though the Catalyst platform shows something no one noticed. Please look at side view and you will see the outline shaped like that Arctic Cat cat logo the outline goes from hood toward rear by tunnel. I wish I can add photos here as attachment to show what I mean. Real clever!

Glad color is black. Not that disastrous gray. I am sure the guys at TRF read this.

Thank you for brining back the Pentera. And Thunder Cat with ElTigre 1980 or 81 gold and green trim retro look. Wrong model name! Should have been as ElTigre! Come on get rid of Norseman. It should be Bear Cat. Still not liking Blast or Riot. Should be Jag and maybe another cat caled Ocolet. There are more cat names out there. In meantime I call Riot RiotCat and Blast BlastCat. Alpha AlphaCat…
