ARCTIC CAT ADAPT CLUTCH RETROFIT GUIDE, TUNING AND ENGINEERING NOTES

As everyone is preparing their snowmobiles for the upcoming winter season, I’ve received, and have seen, more and more comments from those of you looking to upgrade your current drive/driven clutches to Arctic Cat’s new ADAPT clutches.

If you are unfamiliar with Arctic Cat’s ADAPT clutches, their design and benefits, please read this story HERE.

Arctic Cat created the following parts and tuning guide for both the DRIVE and DRIVEN ADAPT clutches. If retrofitting, this guide is targeted to 2016 and newer models.

Pay special attention to the fourth column notes on the charts, and it’s recommended a new drive belt is purchased and used when installing NEW ADAPT clutches.

ADAPT DRIVE CLUTCH – RECOMMENDATIONS BY MODEL, YEAR & ALTITUDE

ENGINEERING DRIVE CLUTCH NOTES

  • Can be used with existing Driven Clutch
  • One of the first DRIVE notes below (fourth column), is the need for the hardware kit (cam arm pins, fastener and thrust washers). This was a change to our uncalibrated clutches as we install the calibration in Thief River Falls, so service clutches (uncalibrated) are the same as what the factory receives for commonality.
  • E-start rings and damper (Non-ES) rings are carry-over. We recommend using new hardware for installation on a new clutch as the hardware has patchlock. The ring gear fastener number is 2623-317 (qty 6 needed).
  • There have been some questions online for a shorter clutch bolt. Some 2-stroke MY23 snowmobiles will have the shorter clutch bolt (2623-308) and that is used with the “old” bolt spacer from MY16-21. (Service parts availability timing is TBD)

ADAPT DRIVEN CLUTCH – RECOMMENDATIONS BY MODEL, YEAR & ALTITUDE

ENGINEERING DRIVEN CLUTCH NOTES

  • Can be used with existing Drive Clutch
  • An ADAPT driven cam can not be used in a MY16-21 TEAM driven sheave due to channels in the TEAM sheave and cam castings. A MY16-21 Cam can be used in the ADAPT driven though.
  • Arctic Cat has created a uncalibrated service parts driven clutch (0726-446) which is listed in the Driven Clutch table above. It has an added threaded hole for the belt deflection screw, should a consumer need a driven for their sled prior to the idler drive system.

  1. These clutches are amazing, I couldn’t believe the improvement over the team!

I feel weird not mentioning bar risers so … there it is.

  2. I just find it strange that there is nothing about the clutches for the 7000 models, but they had some 7000’s built, then cancelled for the 23 season. Did they have the new clutches in those sleds? Older Team ones? There are a lot of 7000’s out there that could likely use an updated clutch, and a TBD doesn’t help move my sled

  3. Is it possible we could see this clutch come available for older Procross sleds? I have a 2014 XF 8000 SnoPro Limited is why i’m asking.

  4. 800 bucks for an uncalibrated clutch, when I already own a perfectly good clutch. No Thanks I’ll stick with my Team clutches. Love them. Installed an after market clutch kit and could not be happier.
