Arctic Cat Reinvigorates Off-Road Lineup for 2022

Brand-new Alterra 600, Prowler Pro upgrades and new technology

Arctic Cat introduced a reinvigorated Model Year 2022 off-road lineup today. Below are the highlights from their media press release.

“Arctic Cat has been part of the powersports industry for 60 years, and the Model Year 2022 off-road lineup focuses on our continued dedication and investment in the brand,” said Heidi McNary, Vice President & General Manager, Powersports for Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc.

“Arctic Cat is Committed to the off-road industry…”

“From recently launching the all-new Alterra 600 models, to making substantial upgrades to the Prowler Pro, and then aligning with Garmin to provide state-of-the-art GPS technology integration, Arctic Cat is committed to the off-road industry, our dedicated riders and providing the ultimate experience on our vehicles.”

The all-new line of Alterra 600 ATVs were introduced in April 2021

Announced in April, the all-new Alterra 600 ATV was built from the ground-up, featuring an all-new engine, drivetrain and chassis to deliver increased power, better handling, more durability and easier servicing. The vehicle’s all-new 600cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine — built by Arctic Cat in the United States — offers 45 horsepower and complements its all-new chassis with a lower center of gravity for incredible balance, increased stability, and a performance-oriented ride experience.

The all-new 600 engine is a 45hp powerhouse

Its CVT system features Arctic Cat-tuned CVTech Trailbloc drive and Invance driven clutches for increased performance, smooth low-speed engagement and longer belt life. The ATV was thoughtfully designed with a new steering geometry for more agility, an exhaust routed down and out of the middle of the vehicle to keep heat off the rider, electronic 4WD engagement and easily accessible storage under the handlebars.

The Alterra 600 is available in four different models:

The Prowler Pro line is improved with better clutching, cooling, suspension and increased ground clearance

Arctic Cat has also made significant improvements to the three-person Prowler Pro and six-person Prowler Pro Crew for Model Year 2022. The Prowler Pro is known for its quiet 50-horsepower, 812cc EFI engine, comfortable ride, unmatched capabilities, ample storage, and durability.

To build upon these features, the 2022 models feature a new suspension with more ground clearance — up to 13 inches. The suspension is tuned for enhanced comfort and control, no matter the terrain.

Arctic Cat also beefed up the half-shafts to match the added capabilities of the revised suspension. The vehicles also feature a new performance-tuned CVTech clutches with Arctic Cat-tuned Trailbloc drive and Invance driven clutches.

Arctic Cat also improved the engine cooling system to reduce fan run time and enhance engine performance. All models are equipped with an aggressive new bumper with integrated headlight protection and new aluminum, seven-spoke wheels providing the perfect finishing touch.

  1. I’d love a test ride next summer. We have a competitor’s 570 EPS and it has been an excellent machine. I’d love to compare that to a 600 Alterra. Is there any expectation that Cat will have a touring demo day, or is this up to individual dealers?

  2. Finally got some time to actually take a close look at the new 600 and it is SWEET! The easy access to service and check things out and the narrower seating area with larger foot wells really make for a comfortable machine. I will have one of these one day. The fit and finish really impressed me as well.

  3. Glade to see cat go back to engineering outside the box! They should emphasis more on that for advertising but as of lately there are lacking. I really like the body and how easy it is to access engine but those headlights are to much like Polaris. I would love to take the new 600 out for ride and see what it can do! But still bummed out its not a twin and my 08 kawi is still making more power. Hopefully they have another one coming? SxS are looking good other than obvious gape in 50-60″ sport range. Guessing new wildcat 700 coming and wasn’t ready yet? It is do for a make over, not that it was bad.
