Step back into the early 1990s — a time when snowmobile fans flocked to Haydays with pockets of cash, and big dreams. Prices were low, spirits were high, and the snowmobile world buzzed with excitement.

I don’t know about you, but when I step onto the Haydays grounds early in the morning; I’m on the hunt for a cool sled, a rare part or some sweet piece of memorabilia that I can discover before someone else does.

Back in 1992 when a dozen eggs cost just 91 cents and the newly released Arctic Cat ZR only cost you about $5,999.00, the chance of finding treasure was off the charts.

Fast forward to today, and the snowmobile game has changed a bit. If you find a 1977 Z in the back of a pick up truck, it wont be $1150.00 anymore. If you find a Snocross team there selling last years sleds it wont be ZR 440’s or IFS RXL’s.

Everyone’s got a classic Haydays story maybe it was a killer deal, a legendary sled sighting, or just one of those crazy moments. Share your best Haydays memory in the comments. We want to hear all about it!

  1. Great photos! As a squarebody Chevy truck lover, there sure are some drool-worthy examples in those pics! Thanks for sharing.

  2. my life events basically revolve around haydays events. started going in 1998. personally I liked the old waldoch site best. back in the day we could only walk one row before we had to head to the truck and unload. it was better when two buddies loaded stuff on Friday after work and headed to sell Saturday morning, but I still go, rarely do I buy anything just fun to remember the good old days

  3. cool photos
i was there few times in the late 90s coming from manitoba,
one particular seller’s sign for a sled, said…
“if u don’t like the price, bring your wife or girlfriend here…then we’ll dicker!”
    lol
    great times at haydays!

  4. For years I ended up pitting in the same spot. My competitors accuse me of bribing the snow barons for that spot. The blues 10×10 on the right side is long gone and replaced with a Team Arctic tent. Still have the Team Arctic cover tho. Someone had one at Princeton for sale last year. Think $350, I don’t think I payed $50 for mine. I really miss the competitors from those days. They got smart I guess and retired. Also the entries were nuts back in those days. 52 entries in Stock 800, 63 in Stock 600. Over 1000 entries total. Now days we can’t get 400 entries and in Stock classes your lucky you have 2 heats. The manufactures used to brag big time on their stock wins. Now days you don’t hear anything about the race. The new track is 100% better then the old one. I think the old one was just better for the OEMS, the aftermarket company’s and the competitors in the pits. A way better experience over all. Now days its all about the Outlaw Sleds.
