FRIDAY RANDOMNESS: Offroad Races, Triple-Stuffed Sleds and New Magazines

The same folks who host the National Snocross tour also host the Championship Off-Road series. This weekend marks the first race in Antigo, WI. Just like snocross, you can watch the Livestream of every stop on the tour. The Pro 2 and Pro 4 trucks will surely wow you with screaming V8s, but don’t forget the Side x Side racing is just as exciting and packed with competitors, including our friends at Speedwerx in their Arctic Cat Wildcat XXs. Good luck this season and I for one, am excited to tune in!

The Speedwerx Wildcat XX

Ive always held a fascination for the sound of triple-triple Arctic Cat engines found in ZRTs and Thundercats…and I have an even bigger appreciation for those of you stuffing them into every chassis conceivable…Procross, ElTigre and even early examples like this Panther!

This Panther was on display at the Snowmobile Hall of Fame Classic Sled Round-Up over Memorial Day weekend and is owned by Kevin McKevett. Kevin has a few videos of it floating around on the YouTube. I hope to get one from him to share with you as part of our Sound Series videos. Id like to hear this fired up on the jackstand! Nice work Kevin!

For those of you living in the Midwest, or thinking about visiting/riding one of the states (MN/WI/MI/SD/IA) you may appreciate this new magazine, Midwest Rider. From ATVs, Side by Sides and Snowmobiles, Midwest Rider will help you unlock new riding adventures, learn about destinations, products, services and more. I was happy to be able to work on the project and will continue to do so into future issues.

Enjoy your weekend! Thanks again for following ArcticInsider.

  1. You guys and your Gray comments make me laugh. Personally, Id prefer black as a base color, but I generally like Gray. I see it as a neutral color starting point for the graphics I want to add to make a vehicle my own. As I’m writing this, I’m looking at the Rzr on the Midwest Rider cover…Gray. 😉

  2. Kale,
I saw that Panther with the Thunder Cat Motor stuffed in it at the New Tom Snow Fleas Vintage show this winter in Lake Tomahawk, Wisconsin. Dude fired it up for us… sounded wicked. Said he hadn’t fully opened up the throttle yet but could easily hit 100 mph or something like that. Really cool build.
