The Gogebic Community College Ironwood XC Championship served as Rounds 7 and 8 of the 2026 Cor PowerSports Race Series last weekend, and Zach Herfindahl made his presence felt across both days, banking three podiums and a Pro Open victory for Team Arctic.
Saturday opened with a fifth in Pro Stock, but the No. 312 Arctic Cat wasn’t done. Herfindahl rebounded in the Pro Open final with the win, showing exactly why he’s one of the most consistent terrain racers in the country. Sunday continued the momentum with second in Pro Stock and third in Pro Open to close out the weekend.
“It felt good,” Herfindahl said. “Honestly wish I could have capitalized on the other races but will take the three podiums for the weekend. Overall really happy with the team and sled. Also a huge shout out to Vince and Fox. We put in a ton of work and time all weekend, backing shocks and dialing in the sled for the ski hill. Will take it and looking forward to ending the year on a high note!”
The callout to Fox and suspension specialist Vince VanSlyke wasn’t just a courtesy. Dialing in shocks for ski hill terrain is time-intensive work, and it showed as the weekend progressed. It’s the kind of behind-the-scenes effort that defines who’s standing on the podium when conditions get demanding.
Herfindahl wheels the ZR 600 R-XC on the Catalyst chassis for Team Arctic. With one final race weekend remaining, the 14-time champion heads into the close with momentum: three podiums, a win, and a sled trending in the right direction.
Kinda funny, last year it was all gloom and doom at this time and now cat is kicking ass and no comments from the peanut gallery! Good job guys
