HERFINDAHL SWEEPS PARK RAPIDS WITH A PAIR OF WINS

I enjoy the cross country race reports Pro racer, Zach Herfindahl, sends me from his weekends competing on the COR Powersports series. Hopefully you do to! – Kale

Team Arctic Cross Country returned to some high speed ditch racing in Park Rapids (MN) at the Heartland 200. One of the favorites throughout the season for racers competing in the series as the 108 mile track consists of Minnesota state trails, lakes and ditch lines with great snow conditions. Team Arctic was excited to get the weekend rolling and see how our ZR’s stacked up against the competition. This race would consist of two race days, combining the fastest times for an overall winner on the weekend.

SATURDAY

-25 degrees to start the day made starting positions very important leading into the day. Zach had a great draw and would start second for the first 108 miles, As racing started Zach jumped out to an early lead and slowly began to pull away from the field of racers. After 108 mistake free miles Zach crossed the finish two minutes ahead of second place. This meant he would start two minutes ahead of the field for day two.

SUNDAY

Day two brought sun and extreme cold temps lasting most of the day. Zach started with a two minute lead and would maintain it for most of the day. The #312 Arctic Cat ZR did have issues though as something got tangled in the skid frame causing him to pull over and check the sled mid-race. The issue cleared itself up and Zach crossed the finish line with a comfortable lead to become the 2023 Heartland 200 winner.

“What a weekend! Our Arctic Cat ran flawless and we had a blast with the first place sweep of Pro Modified and Pro Stock. It wasn’t without some excitement on day two, but that’s racing! I can’t thank our team and sponsors enough as we keep the success rolling through the first half of this season! Up next is the Soo 500 in Sault St. Marie, Michigan!” -Zach Herfindahl

Next up for Zach, is the SOO I500 February 1-4th.
Pretty cool overview video from COR Powersports showing the terrain in the Heartland 200. After watching, Zach must have been so blazing fast, he wasn’t able to be captured on video. 🙂 Still cool though.
