1. I remember watching those races on tv and thinking about how high they are jumping. Compared to now, they are barely getting the sleds off the ground.

2. It is amazing how the tracks have changed. It looks to me like the sno cross track in the video was smoother than last weekends cross country track in Warroad. Jon I know you and Cal could probably speak to that.

3. John,
I really enjoyed that! MN Cat, I think you are pretty much spot on, it’s just that the laps were 9 miles longer! Great stuff, and good fun!

5. Yes, the cross-country course in Warroad was rougher than most of that snocross course. At least it felt that way to me!

In a lot of ways, I like watching that old kind of snocross better than many of the tracks they’ve built in recent years. True, they didn’t jump high/far back then. But tracks like West Yellowstone had WAY more lines (complete opposite of the one-line stuff that too many of today’s tracks) which made the racing more dramatic.

And watching Kirk work his way through traffic was an absolute thrill.

6. I know that Kirk was still racing in 2007, I just looked at a pic of him at Brainerd that year. I’ll ask him and find out when his last race was.

7. That sure brings back some memories!! About the same era I last saw Blair race, and then see the names come up,Just saw Nathan Titus a couple weeks back up in cable wis. at the Cor powersports cc event!

8. Snowcross you could see your sled race. The old I-500 you could never see your sled run, if you worked on them. Show some old I-500 John.

9. That video is great! It’s going viral on FB… : ) Trivia question: Was this 1999 West Yellowstone race Kirk’s last Pro Open win?

10. Kirk raced well into the 2000s but he bumped himself down to Semi-Pro. He “raced” basically so he could try stuff first-hand. Had to be 2006 or 2007 he rode a prototype race sled at Canterbury that had the pipes coming out under the seat. A couple weeks later Shaun Crapo raced that sled at the X Games. I’m sure Sandberg and his Arctic Insiders have photos of that sled somewhere.

11. Awesome video John, and it was great racing with you last weekend! That West Yellowstone track definately brings back memories (some painfull, some not) of the D1 tracks from the early 2000’s. Watching this years Deadwood SnoX online I thought the same thing. Apparently the fans (at least the ones commenting) didn’t seem to think it was too cool, but to me it was old-school SnoX, something the series could use once a season.

12. jim – Do you have photos of bib no. 12 from dec 2005 Gin Gin 120 dog race? She is my dguahter and I would like to buy them if they are available. Thanks, Jim

13. I went there only because (Congress ladeer and Pune MP) Suresh Kalmadi insisted that I come. I went there only when I was told that Sushil Kumar Shinde had been honoured in one of the earlier meets of the organisation. How can anyone even think of me being a ladeer of any one community? If various associations like the Vaishya Samaj or some Muslim body invite me, I do go there, she told The Indian Express.Asked if she saw Muthalik there, Dik**** said as a ladeer she meets hundreds of people everyday . Am I expected to know everyone whom I meet? I didn’t know about the man you are talking about. But if he’s the same man behind the vandalism (in Mangalore), he needs to condemned in the strongest possible terms. In Pune, there is talk that Kalmadi and the Congress tried to steal the thunder from the saffron parties by reaching out to the four-lakh Brahmin voter base there via the two-day gathering. Kalmadi was not available for comment.Ghaisas Guruji, who runs an institution to impart Vedic education in Pune, said: While we were organising a local meet in Dharwad (in Karnataka), we were told Muthalik should be invited to the Pune meet because he had been doing good work among the Brahmins. We didn’t known about his background at all. We were taken aback when we learnt the truth about him from television. 17. Hi Amy,I enjoyed your clomun about branding day dinner and I wanted to email a link to the article to my daughter. The Mitchell Daily Republic’s website has a link for the article that takes me to the branding day entry on your blog. There’s a brief paragraph about the video clip, but not the article itself. If possible, would you email the link to the article? Thanks,Phil http://awjcbgyo.com jyxflwyuq [link=http://ewzthoh.com]ewzthoh[/link]
