New Junior Snocross Classes for Sno Pro 500

2012 Arctic Cat Sno Pro 500

There are two new classes being implemented in snocross racing that will feature the Arctic Cat Sno Pro 500.

8-10 Transition 500 Limited class – This snocross class is for the Arctic Cat Sno Pro 500 utilizing a 50 percent throttle limit and ECU rev-limit restrictions. Race circuits have the option to allow these restricted machines to drop down and race with the current 300-class machines, scoring them together or separately for the point’s championship. This will be determined once the race circuit personnel are assured the new sled won’t dominate the successful class.

In addition, the 300 will have the option to bump up and run with the 500’s in the 500 Limited class.

The second class is Junior Novice 10-13 500 Liquid Limited. This is an all-new class with the Arctic Cat Sno Pro 500 as the only designated model. Each machine must utilize a 50 percent throttle restriction.

Again, each circuit has the option to allow these restricted 500s to drop down and race with the 600cc fan cooled sleds and score them either together and or separately. They also can allow the fan-cooled sleds to jump up and race in the 500 Liquid Limited class.

Final class rules and information will be posted on the Arctic Cat Racing web site as well as in the new ISR rules book later this summer.

Please contact your race circuit for more details about the new classes, and contact the Arctic Cat Race Department for more information about the Sno Pro 500, the necessary modifications and the class requirements.

In light of the new information the Arctic Cat Race Dept. will continue to accept 2011-12 Race Applications for the Sno Pro 500 until June 15, 2011. The 2012 Arctic Cat Sno Pro 500 is also available at many Arctic Cat dealerships, please stop in and check them out.

  1. I’m 18, but have always wanted to get into snocross from 14. I never had money to buy a nice sled, but I can now (kinda). Could you give any info on how to start, who to talk to etc. Thanks a lot!!!

  2. im 20 and have been interested in the crosscountry series. dont know who to talk to see if i would be able to try it out or not. getting deployed in a few days here and would be a year before i would have a chance but would like to talk to some one about it if possible

    thanks nathan

  3. Justin and Nathan…first thing I would do is get an application in to the Arctic Cat race dept. You can find that on the Arctic Cat site (www.arcticcat.com) or just above the comments, click 2011-2012 Race Applications. Other good info can be found at the ISOC site… http://www.isocracing.com Justin, being 18…you probably want to start in a novice or SPORT class.
Also, keep watch this site (Arctic Insider) Everybody who watches this site is very helpfull!
    Good luck! John #33

  4. Justin, just like you, I wanted to start racing as a 9 year old boy. I didn’t start racing until I was 47. Now at 52, I won the last three years in a row, the Eagle River World Championship, in the Plus class snocross.
“It’s never to late to start!” Arctic Cat is more than 100% behind me!
Let me know if I can help you out with anything! …John

  5. I am 12 and i want to race snocross because i think i would be good at it i have a z370 now and i race my friend that has a 500yamaha in the yard and i beat him in a short track not in a long track i race dirtbikes and i am pretty good it would be cool if i could watch tucker in real life and race my self. but i think 50% of throttle is kinda dumb cause i am ready to hall A$$. but i will still do it

  6. I am 16 and have always wanted to race snowmobiles, I have been riding for ever. My family owns a few arctic cat’s now, all i need is a team and i am in. I also have expieriance with other all terrain vehicles.

  7. Never to late or early to start I would start off going to watch a regional race and talk to a few of the riders around your age. Its a fun time and most if not all the riders will be friendly and open to suggest what you should do. One thing to do before hand is save save save. Snocross costs can break the bank in two real fast. The first year being the worst. All totally worth it. The experience gained is great. also Smart idea to start training in the off season. I few laps on a sled out on the rough track is draining! much much more physically demainding then motocross (still not easy) If anyone has any questions that they would like me to help out with throw your email up and your question and I’ll shoot ya an email!

  8. Well there goes the old “you can’t try snocross because there is no class for your sled excuse”! Hope to see 10v give it a try also!

  9. for anyone that is wondering, you can still race the regular sno pro 500 in junior classes. no need for any throttle restrictions

  10. racing takes money and connextions first and skillz second. always has and always will

that and you gotta be willing to risk breaking your neck and losing feeling from there down or curtains..

    rare group indeed!!!

  11. “Looks like we have a good crop of young riders.” This anouncement really is ticking off the Ski-Doo 300 Freestyle owners, but they don’t last forever, and Ski-Doo doesn’t make the 300’s anymore.
Glad Arctic Cat is steping up and providing quality machines that limit the engines to please the insurance companies!

  12. Hey, I’ve seen it… It’s a quality product!… But yeah, we race a freestyle… And yes, it was a class monopoly… Now it’s your turn!… It’s always great to see kids stick with it and move up from the 120s. Is it gonna tick off the freestyle owners youbetcha!… At least til they retire the freestyle from racing. If price wasn’t an issue would we switch?… Who knows… John, you’ve got connections, set us up we’ll run laps on both and give your AC pals a rider’s review… Never-the-less, always wear your protective gear kids and keep doing what you love!…

  13. I just purchased a 300 for my son he has not even had the chance race it in the transition class. but has had many hours of practice on it. I have still applied for the cat race program. I have three kids that race and I am going to switch all of them to cats. I think this is a great piece of equipment and it will grow with the rider. This will allow the same sled to be used for several years. I think this sled will outlast the kid. It is about time we made the sport a little more affordable for everyone especially at the regional levels.

  14. I have all-way what to race in the 500 stock class for team arctic cat I have don thing on sled that people though that I was going get kill. And I have no fever in riding sled and and win I was 14 I would watch team arctic cat race on tv and on the tracks. But I am 17 and would like to start to race and I got parts from former gay that use to work on race sleds and do there carburetor and I have a zr 500 2002 I have made it quick by using the parts that I have.
