Half of the United States is covered in snow this Christmas. Most of Canada has some serious snow cover. And there are some wonderful purples in the Rockies (especially the Canadian Rocks)

Dave Phillips of Environment Canada said on Global about the same time:
95% of Canada will have a white Christmas.
Inaccurate mapping is all I can say at this time…. Good portion of lower middle Michigan hasn’t even a dusting at this point
For sure I don’t know the accuracy of NOAA, but I’m pretty sure that (aside from literally standing in an area yourself) it’s the best of all weather sites for snow cover.
I’ll also say this: I’m now way more aware of the hyper-local aspect of weather. An example is the pocket snow where I live in Minnesota. If I drive 15 miles north, south or east, there’s twice as much as the 2-3 inches of snow that’s on the ground where I live. I’m literally in a small band/pocket that got less snow than most of SE Central Minn.
The lesson I keep relearning is that “everywhere else (both near and far) isn’t the same as it is in my backyard.”
I agree with John. I live in S.E. Wi. Around me we have 3-5 in. 15-25 miles north there is 6-8 15-20 miles east is brown ground. If I go west north west 20 miles there is 10 in. plus.
Any one that has done any amount of trail riding knows that snow depth varies. There is a bright side to all of this and that is it looks to be a nice white winter that will allow us to put some miles on our snow machines,which will start a new topic. MY BRAND NEW AC,P,SD,or Y keeps breaking down on me and my dealer or factory will not fix it to free.
Think snow. Let it snow. Winter wonderland. It’s all good to me and I think the Jester would agree. By the way ‘Jester’ isn’t it time for some random pictures?
