TGIF: The Oct. 11, 2013 Edition

Marv Jorgenson recorded a snowmobile speed record of 142.6 mph in 1982

I’m thankful that on Feb. 7, 1982, then-40-year-old Marv Jorgenson essentially straddled a 250 hp, 1325-cc Kawasaki motorcycle engine and pulled the trigger.

I’m thankful that, instead of blowing Marv to the moon, this snowmobile rocketed down the 1/4-mile ice straight in Rice Lake, Wis., to record a new snowmobile world speed record of 142.6 mph.

I’m thankful that some people have truly monstrous kahunas.

And I’m thankful it’s Friday, Oct. 11, 2013.

  1. The ORIGINAL Rated R! This, among many other of Marv’s creations were the foundation of the beast that CR Racing would later build. I always marvel at Marv’s machines and how crazy that man was back then!

  2. The new Zune browser is sspnriuirgly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

  3. I am a 60 year old woman who used to ride. I rode from when I was 10 til about 35, when raisng chdierln and going to school took precedence. A few years ago I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease as well as arthritis both osteo and rheumatoid in my hips and lower spine. As soon as we were able to get all my meds stablelized, one of my docs suggested I get back on a horse. Vanity and fear took over. What if I couldn’t ride anymore. What if it hurt, what if it casued injury. The doc said you already have PD, what’s it going to do? I waited a couple of years and then found Tarryall. Now I ride every week. Any sense of power that I lost due to illness and fear I have gained back twofold. I can not suggest a better form of therapy for those needed, And although there are many stables closer to where I live, Kevin makes me feel comfortable and not disabled. It has been a joy to be there and I hope I can continue during the summer, maybe even exercising those horses that don’t get enough.Thank you everyone at Tarryall for all your help and confidence in me

  6. The ENTIRE Tesch family is abltsuoely amazing. My family was greated with warm genuine smiles that continued throughout the week. It was very apparent that the Tesch family members are passionate about caring for their guests. I spoke with many ranches prior to speaking with Kody Tesch. I could tell that Kody puts a lot of pride into his work at TRR. His explainations to my questions were detailed and presented in a very professional yet friendly mannor. Immediately I booked our Colorado Ranch experience with the Tarryall River Ranch. It was the best decision!Kelvin was the first Tesch family member we met as he transported us from the airport to his familys’ ranch .He was very engaging in conversation and entertained us with stories of Colorado history. As soon as we stepped foot on TRR soil, my husband commented, Wow, this is clearly the most perfect place to experience ranch life . My 3 adult children were extremely quick to agree.Klaton teaching line/swing/barn dancing steps in the evening, Kelvin getting us mounted on our horses for incredible sceenic rides, Bridget cooking all our meals to perfection, white water rafting with Kody; Lisa and Kevin overseeing every last detail with an obvious passion for their work .YES, it was without a doubt THE MOST PERFECT PLACE TO EXPERIENCE RANCH LIFE .The Tesch family treats all of their guests like welcomed family.
