BENHAM SWEEPS THE TOP BOX BOTH DAYS IN NEW YORK

Arctic Cat racers found their mojo this past weekend when the national snocross tour visited Salamanca, New York for the US Air Force National. With the series now running a triple crown format, the pros race three finals each night, with a cumulative points system determining the overall winner for the night (with the final race being the determining factor in the case of a tie). On Friday night Daniel Benham took the overall win with fellow Cat racer Jacob Yurk securing the second place finish. Close followers of the series may have noticed Yurk was initially declared the winner on the night, but I heard reports the next day that Yurk was penalized a position for jumping under caution. No matter, it was a great night of racing for Arctic Cat.

To back up the results, Benham and the Woodies Racing Team returned on Saturday and blistered the field once again, going 1-1-2 in the three rounds of racing, more than enough to give him the overall. While Yurk made only one podium in Saturday’s three rounds of racing going 5-3-5, his consistency was enough to earn him a third place overall finish.

Congrats to both Daniel and Jacob on a strong weekend. With the midway point of the season upon us, Both racers are sitting in contention for the year-end crown. Yurk is currently in 4th – 37 points behind tour leader Emil Harr; and Benham is currently in 5th – 42 points behind Harr.
