Go-Karts & Laughter: Hunter Houle Memorial Foundation Fundraiser

Hunter Houle Memorial Foundation Fundraiser

The 2nd Annual Hunter Houle Memorial Foundation fundraiser is set for Saturday, April 28 in the Twin Cities.

On tap that day: Indoor go-kart racing on an awesome track (where you and I will show Tucker Hibbert and Zach Herfindahl why they’re LUCKY we don’t race them on a weekly basis!); great people; incredible auction items; a new-this-year banquet dinner option; and raising funds for a great organization.

An up-and-coming cross-country snowmobile racer who tragically died following a an accident while practicing for a race in January 2017, Hunter was funny, kind, goofy and sometimes brazen young adult who made the world a far more interesting place.

The Hunter Houle Memorial Foundation arose as a means to continue Hunter’s passion for racing and helping others via engaging in charitable purposes, advancement of education and helping those in need.

Last year’s fundraiser was a huge success, with oodles of people coming to enjoy a day of friendly go-kart racing, hanging out with each other and helping a charity. Many well-known friends and family came, including Tucker Hibbert, Mike Houle, Logan Christian, Zach Herfindahl, Dan Ebert, Dale Lindbeck, Aaron Scheele, Chad Lofton, Roger Skime, Russ Ebert. Mike Kloety, Brian Nelson, and many, many others. (Dang it, I know I’m forgetting a ton of people!)

It’s the kind of day that Hunter would have LOVED. And he would have personally ushered many of those names into the wall at full speed.

This event is open to anyone with an interest, whether you were a friend of Hunter’s or not. Doesn’t matter if your color is green, red, yellow or blue. I expect most of that same motley crew mentioned above to be at this year’s event, trading paint on the track and stories off of it.

The day begins with go-kart racing at MB2 Raceway in Fridley, Minn., with classes for youth, women, beginners, experts and 50-plus for old farts like me. The round-robin format means lots of track time, with trophies going to the top finishers.

This year there’s an informal banquet dinner and auctions at Running Aces in Columbus, Minn., following the go-kart action, with social hour beginning at 5pm.

Can’t spend the whole day away? No problem, just pick and choose what activities to participate in. You can preregister HERE (and save $10 over day-of registration). Click that same link for more information.

I hope to see you there!
