2018 is coming early for Arctic Cat fans, in the form of the all-new early-release ZR 8000 Sno Pro 129/137 featuring the all-new Arctic Cat C-TEC2 800 engine with DSI.

New for 2018:

*All-new 8000 Series C-TEC2 794cc engine with Dual-Stage Injection (DSI) delivers increased performance and rideability in the 160-hp class. It provides crisp throttle response, outstanding mid-range and class-leading performance in addition to improved fuel mileage and reduced oil consumption.

*Next Gen bodywork provides increased airflow to the engine; improved fit and finish; easy on/off body panels and distinctive Arctic Cat styling.

*New TEAM Rapid Response II drive clutch features an auto-adjusting belt tension design and a 12.5 percent lower effective starting ratio (while maintaining the top ratio) for smoother engagement and reduced belt wear at drive-away speed.

The two new ZR 8000 Sno Pro models are powered by the all-new and all-powerful Arctic Cat 8000-Series 794cc C-TEC2 engine with Dual-Stage Injection. In addition to the new engine, the ZR 8000 Sno Pro ES 129- and 137-in. track models come with new bodywork for increased airflow and easy on/off panels; the auto-adjusting TEAM Rapid Response II drive clutch; and they’re available extra-early at Arctic Cat dealerships after Feb. 1, 2017.

Yep, that’s right, these babies will be available beginning next week!

One hit of the throttle is all it takes to discover a new level of 160-hp class power and refinement. The new 8000-series Arctic Cat C-TEC2 engine is more powerful than its predecessor and with a stronger low- and mid-range hit thanks to its new APV exhaust valve featuring 3-stage control of all exhaust ports. An electronic oil pump means drastically reduced oil consumption, complementing the cleaner emissions from Dual-Stage Induction.

The added engine performance hits the track consistently every time thanks to the quick acceleration and auto-adjusting design of the TEAM Rapid Response II drive clutch, Rapid Reaction driven clutch and the entire Arctic Drive System. The Rapid Response II is truly a new benchmark in drivetrain performance because it delivers optimum belt tension at ALL TIMES.

In addition to their easy on/off design, new Next Gen bodywork panels deliver increased airflow to the engine and clutches while retaining the distinctive Arctic Cat style. Both ZR models hit the trails and ditches with the race-proven ProCross chassis that delivers an ultra-rigid platform and optimal riding position. They’re matched by the Arctic Race Suspension (ARS) front suspension offering 10 inches of bump-eating travel that’s dampened by FOX 1.5 ZERO RC shocks, as well as the coupled SLIDEACTION rear suspension with 13.5 inches of travel.

When it’s time to slow things down, the race-bred master cylinder brake delivers excellent power and feel. Add to the mix an ergo-friendly seat, fuel tank and cowling, plus the convenience of electric start and push-button engine reverse, and the result is pure performance with the comfort and control that riders expect. Riders can choose either the 15 x 129 x 1.25-in. Ripsaw track or the 15 x 137 x 1.25- in. Ripsaw II track. The 129-in. track is lighter and provides the ultimate cornering precision, while the 137-in. track offers more off-trail flotation plus the stability and comfort of a longer wheelbase.

The early-release 2018 ZR 8000 Sno Pro ES models are available in Dynamic Gray in limited quantities.

The 2018 ZR 8000 129-in. Sno Pro ES Early Release MSRP price is $13,199 (U.S.).

The 2018 ZR 8000 137-in. Sno Pro ES Early Release MSRP price is $13,499 (U.S.).

  1. As long as this new engine will outpull Doo’s new 850 and Poo’s new 800HO I am all for it. Hard/fast acceleration and smooth wicked power band with refinements to the chassis, body work, and EFI mapping, etc is what is needed for this 800cc class sled.

  2. Thanks for getting this info posted quick. Nice write-up on the engine too. Do you know what headlights to expect on these sleds? Spec sheet says halogen, some pictures show halogen and some pictures show the LED setup.

  3. Hey Fred, Isn’t that the HP numbers from the first F1000 series engines? What HP numbers did the latter F1000 engines produce? I’ve heard about 169 – 173HP? If they are getting around 168-169 or maybe 170HP from an 800cc engine, OMG this new 800 C-Tec2 engine will be wicked. But it also must be reliable as well. Only time will tell I guess?

  4. Picked it up on 2-14-17, It is an animal on trails, haven’t found enough real estate to stretch her legs, BUT DAMN THIS THING IS SWEET !

  5. Really noticed a huge difference between my old one and new zr8. Soon as hit hits hour 10, you better hold on.. panels are great for easy off and on.. NO more oil spills.
