Vintage Show Replaces Race in St. Hilaire, MN

Joey Hallstrom of Arctic Cat, during his "young" period of life

This goofball winter is wrecking havoc on all kinds of events, including what would have been the St. Hilaire (Minn.) 100-mile Vintage Race. The original plan was that this would be a half river, half ditch race, but the warm temps have prevent the river from freezing properly.

But rather than accept defeat, the town elders are hosting a Vintage Snowmobile Show on Jan. 28.

It will take place at the St. Hilaire Bar & Grill beginning at 10 am., with trophy awards for Best Original, Best Restored and People’s Choice. Food will be available all day as the “Health Care Heroes Relay for Life” team will serve lunch, with 100% of the proceeds going to the American Cancer Sociaty.

So there will be no repeat images of Joey Hallstrom (shown above) setting a fast time on his Tiger, at least not this year. But at least there will be vintage sleds (and probably some good stories told ABOUT Joey…).

  1. I grew up riding those ditches & that river with my ’75 Lynx 250 twin & the ’80 El Tigre’ 5000. What a great riding loop that was…..those were the days.

  2. And don’t forget the poker runs every Wednesday night between St. Hilaire and Thief River Falls………………………….
